CHICAGO – Have you ever wondered how your life might be different if you’d chosen to go left instead of right? Latin for “blank slate,” Tabula Rasa explores the concept our lives as blank slates, with our destinies controlled by the choices we make. Presented by Kate Jablonski in partnership with Dance Chicago, the show features Jablonski’s dance companies, Beyond Words and The Kate Jablonski Statement. Performances are at 8:00pm May 23rd and 24th at Chicago’s historic Athenaeum Theatre.

“I was inspired by Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken,” says Jablonski, “and I wanted the show to illustrate how our choices shape our lives.” The opening act features a girl growing into a young woman and making important choices along the way. In the second half, the same young woman makes different life choices with a drastically different outcome.

With her innovative style and attention to detail, Jablonski has earned a reputation as an exciting and dynamic new force in the world of contemporary dance. Renowned choreographer Tyce Dorio says, “Kate is definitely a choreographer to watch. She has a gift for creating stunning routines that are complex, but at the same time effortlessly fluid.” Jablonski is fast becoming one of the worlds’ most sought after choreographers and instructors. Her YouTube channel, which features many of her most important dances, has amassed over 19 million views and more than 50,000 subscribers across the globe. Adding to the landscape of other great Chicago-area dance companies, Jablonski brings a youthful whimsical energy with a mature creativity and detailed excellence that are beyond her years.
